Spencer Tinkham finely sculpts animals with a hint of human emotion out of discarded wood, metal, and non-recyclable materials. Sculpture is the vehicle that he uses to deliver discard from dumpsters, junkyards, and landfills to private collections, exhibitions, and museums. Taking a renaissance approach, he mixes his oil paints from raw pigment powders. This allows Tinkham to manipulate the finishes to best highlight the character of the found materials. Tinkham's unique works frequently draw inspiration from Modern, surrealist, and folk art styles, while also pulling from literature and current events.
