Laughing Gull

This elegant Laughing Gull is a wonderful accent piece.  The gull is sculpted out of white pine log home cutoffs from the Adirondacks.  The eyes are onyx jewelry beads.  The piece is painted in oils that are mixed from scratch using pigment powders.  The back has a professional grade natural furniture finish, which gives a glimpse into the beauty of the raw material.  The Laughing Gull is approx. 17" tall, 5.5" wide, and 5.5" deep.

Orange Kitten

This kitten is carved entirely out of eastern red cedar tree branches that were collected after Hurricane Hermine.  In a puzzle-like fashion, the pile of branches was meticulously fitted and pieced together.  The entire attitude of this kitten stems from the one-of-a-kind natural curves of the large and small tree branches.  A nice rasp texture shows the craftsmanship of the piece.  The eyes are repurposed doll eyes.  The piece is painted in oils that were mixed from scratch using raw pigment powders.  Signed "TINK" under belly.  Approx. 14" long, 4" wide, and 16" tall.

Sweet Siamese

This Siamese cat is carved entirely out of magnolia tree branches that were collected after Hurricane Hermine.  In a puzzle-like fashion, the pile of branches was meticulously fitted and pieced together.  The entire attitude of this cat stems from one-of-a-kind natural curves of the large and small tree branches.  A nice rasp texture shows the craftsmanship of the piece.  The cat whiskers are inserted pieces of horsehair.  The glass eyes were saved from decoy restoration projects- the paint was stripped and they were painted a light blue.  The base is carved out of scaffolding, which was collected in Norfolk, VA.  The piece is painted in oils that were mixed from scratch using raw pigment powders.  Signed "TINK" under the base.  Approx. 10" wide and 15" tall.

Diving Kingfisher

It is pretty tough to "out-fish" a Kingfisher!  This Belted Kingfisher is carved in the bold and iconic diving pose- as if it is honing in on an unsuspecting bait fish.  The body/head of the bird is carved out of a log home cutoff from the Adirondack NY area.  The wings are carved out of century-old heart pine floor joists from a home that was being remodeled in Norfolk, VA.  The base was carved from a poplar post.  A welding rod was set deeply into the bill and the base, for strength and support.  The eyes are onyx beads, and the piece is painted in oils that were mixed from scratch using raw pigment powders.  Signed "TINK" under base.  Approx. 4" by 4", and 14" tall.
